What do I do when a client—or a friend or family member—watches a trending #nutritiondocumentary and becomes captivated with an extreme diet I’m pretty darn sure will fail?
First, I take a breath. (Or two.) Then, I try to provide clarity and focus. Watch my video on this here.
How? By emphasizing the importance—and effectiveness—of just a handful of foundational elements that virtually everyone agrees with. (This handy graphic from Precision Nutrition illustrates these basic principles.)
Think of the middle of the Venn diagram as the fundamentals of nutrition. These keep my clients on track. And those outside sections? They aren’t life or death. Whether my client wants to eat like a caveman, give up meat forever, or make olive oil their life force is a matter of personal preference.
Ultimately, my client is the boss of how they eat. So if they want to try something new as a result of a nutrition documentary, that’s their call.
